The story of Serenity and Sebastian continues in this second in the series. Four years has passed since the end of the first book and life has changed for both of them. They face a nightmare situation and be warned the ending leaves the story unfinished but wonderfully sets up for the next book. The characters were all credible, the impact of domestic abuse on the victim very real, the relationships, friendships and romance beautifully portrayed showing the downs as well the ups, the bitterness and anger as well as the love and trust and consequently making it all very real and believable.I am not usually a huge fan of Vampire/Fantasy as it often feels too unreal for me but not in these books. I like that the limitations and down-side of being a vampire in the modern world are explored as well as the perhaps more obvious positives- who wouldn't want to look gorgeous all their life?I also liked the struggle between the humanity and inhumanity of Sebastian's nature. In the same vein (get it!) I like that Serenity struggles with these issues as they relate to her as a human, her friendships and the logistics of having a foot in both camps, the lies, half-truths and omissions that have to be made and the complications to her "normal" life. This is in reality a fairly straightforward fantasy romance but this description doesn't convey the depth and complexity it portrays without it being in the least heavy or challenging to read.I am really looking forward to the next in the series

This is my first Marissa Farrar book and I really loved it.I found it was interesting from the beginning and kept me wanting to read every word and did not become bored and skip pages as I do with some books.I can,t wait to start the next one my only problem is I do not want to put the book down.It is heart rending in parts and nerve racking in others a great story.

Its been quite a while since I read "Alone" don't know why I've left it so long to read this book, more fool me really because its good, and a great follow up book, I thought Sebastian was a bit darker in this book than the first and as I don't do spoilers I'm not going to say much more apart from cracking ending and you will be wanting to read the next book.

I really loved this! It brought everything together really well building on the base set in 'Alone', with a brilliant twist- that I really hadn't expected. Thank you and Well done for another amazing read, from an author I'm definitely keeping to read. I can't wait for the next instalment 'Captured' now, which I'm sure it will be just as amazing :)Thank you for a new breed of Vampire novels which are well written and adult, covering sensitive subjects. I have read many authors/series in the paranormal genre and have seen none that combine it with harsh real life issues like domestic abuse. The combination works and gives a more grounded and believable edge to the series. The novels are well planned and flow together smoothly, something which can sometimes lack in sequels but is certainly not lacking here! The main protagonists are easy to identify with, you are soon drawn into their lives and compelled to want to know more about them (I certainly was). The story is not predictable even when you think you know what to expect it surprises you, as the twist did for me in this sequel. This book has; Drama, Romance, Thriller/Horror. The combination is, however, well balanced and works. There are elements to suit readers from a variety of genre's. I would definitely recommend all the books in this series; 'Alone', this novel 'Buried' and the prequel 'The Vengeful Vampire'. Although any could be read as 'stand-alone' novels reading all three is most definitely worth it and highly recommended, I'm glad I did.

I'm not going to plot spoil in this review.IF you've read Alone, then this book is a must read, it will tear at your emotions and your nerves will be on edge, with an end that will leave you shell shocked. A brilliant read, I can't wait for part 3.

Marissa Farrar has yet again kept us hanging with a wonderful book, sad when I got to the end. The same as the first book I read this at breakneck speed and have read it a few times since. This book is a must and I'm afraid I'm not into spoilers! You will not be dissapointed with this well written and fantastic book.
