If you are intrested in writng and/or studying poetry, this is the book for you! Each poem form is explained fully, with examples of poems and answerable questions to accompany each one so that it guides you through the analysis of each poem. It is an expensive book, but the only one you will need to give you the wide knowledge that is essential.

An excellent introduction to poetry with a good deal of pertinent comments. The editors Gioia and Kennedy have done a good job selecting a wide range of poems. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in poetry, or literature in general. The only reason I did not rate this purchase any higher is because the book was scribbled in when I received it. This was not noted by the seller beforehand.
